Historical aristocratic figures in a historical setting, with ancient Roman architecture

House Perceval (England)

House Perceval relates to the prominent, titled English/Irish Perceval family (Earls of Egmont), stemming from Norman origins and known for figures like John Perceval. The name also echoes Arthurian legend through the knight Sir Perceval, a key Grail seeker.

Earl of Egmont was a title in the Peerage of Ireland, created in 1733 for John Perceval, 1st Viscount Perceval. It became extinct with the death of the twelfth earl in 2011.

The Percevals claimed descent from an ancient Anglo-Norman family, a branch of the House of Yvery. This branch of the family traces its lineage to David Perceval, Lord of Tykenham, Rolleston, Sydenham, Moreland, Weley, and Wolmerton in Somerset, in the 16th century.

Kreisau Castle (Poland)

Kreisau Castle (Pałac w Krzyżowej ) is a castle in Krzyżowa in the rural municipality of Świdnica in the Świdnica County ( Powiat Świdnicki ) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland.

The castle was built around 1720 on behalf of Sigismund von Zedlitz und Leipe. After 1772, the von Dresky family purchased the castle, from whom Helmuth von Moltke acquired it in 1867. In 1891, the property passed to his nephew Wilhelm von Moltke, the grandfather of Helmuth James Graf von Moltke . From 1940 onwards, members of the resistance group "Kreisau Circle" met at the castle; most of them were executed in the spring of 1945. Following the cession of Silesia to Poland as a result of the Potsdam Agreement, the castle was nationalized in 1945.

As early as the 1970s, members of the Breslau "Club of Catholic Intelligentsia" contacted Freya von Moltke to establish a memorial to the "Kreisau Circle" within the castle. On November 12, 1989, a reconciliation mass was held.

In the spring of 1998, the International Youth Meeting Center was opened in the restored estate.

Rocca Manfrediana (Italy)

The Rocca of Brisighella, placed to defend the town and the valley on one of the three hills overlooking the village, was built in 1310 by Francesco Manfredi, Lord of Faenza, on the remains of a previous castle destroyed by a Ghibelline faction. The Manfredi ruled over Brisighella for the entire course of the 14th and 15th centuries with the exception of a period of eight years (1368-76) in which, conquered by Cardinal Albornoz, it passed under the State of the Church. In 1394 Galeazzo Manfredi modernized the defensive structures, which were later reinforced by Astorgio II between 1457 and 1466.

In 1500 it was conquered by Cesare Borgia (Valentino) and upon his fall, in 1503, it passed into the hands of the Venetians. In 1509 it was reconquered by the papal troops. In 1560 Pope Pius IV granted Alfonso II d’Este, Duke of Ferrara, the government of the valley which, due to the onset of conflicts, lasted only five years.

Apart from the brief Napoleonic period, the Fortress remained under the control of the Church until 1860, the year of its annexation to the Kingdom of Italy.
